YORK’S LIAM PULLEN POWERS TO U19 TITLE.
A field of 17 lined up for yesterday’s Yorkshire Under 19 competition.
In the top half of the draw Liam Pullen (breezed through to the final without losing a frame, beating Vladislav Gradinari, James Pears and Reece Matin along the way.
In the bottom half of the draw Samuel Lee Stevens had breaks of 51 and 90 in reaching the final, defeating Isa Ishtiaq (2-0), Jake Crofts (2-1) and Oliver Hudson (2-0).
So it was all set up for what looked like being a close fought final but York’s Pullen had other ideas. A scintillating display of break building saw him completely dominate his opponent, producing breaks of 72, 107 and 108 to power to a 3-0 victory and his first Yorkshire title.
Both finalists will receive free entry into the Yorkshire Singles Championship and on this form Pullen will certainly be one to avoid in the draw.
Thanks to the Northern Snooker Centre for use of their excellent facilities and to Michael Davenport for TD and refereeing duties.
